On the morning of September 20, 2021, the Vietnam Tuna Association and OXFAM organized a training workshop "Enhancing knowledge about occupational safety and types of insurance for fishery workers" in the virtual meeting under the Covid 19 pandemic situation.
The virtual training workshop had the presence of Mr. Phan Hung Anh - representative of Social Insurance department of Khanh Hoa province, Mr. Mai Thanh Phuc - head of the fishery union in Phuoc Dong commune, Khanh Hoa province and more than 30 fishermen in Khanh Hoa province.
The virtual training workshop shared and discussed with fishermen about the following contents: The role of health insurance and voluntary social insurance in fishing activities; Ensuring occupational safety at sea; Prevention of child labor in the fishery industry.
Fishermen have been provided with necessary information and benefits in paying for crew insurance, health insurance and voluntary social insurance. Questions and concerns about insurance-related issues were answered by Mr. Phan Hung Anh - representative of Social Insurance department of Khanh Hoa province. In addition, the Vietnam Tuna Association has provided legal updates and recommendations on preventing child labor and ensuring occupational safety at sea for fishery workers.
Mr. Nguyen Son Tung - tuna fisherman in Khanh Hoa province shared: “Thank you Tuna Association for organizing the workshop, providing more knowledge for fishermen. The newly updated knowledge helps fishermen better understand the implementation and comply with labour the law.
