Training workshops Sustainable Fishery and Improvements in Phu Yen province
Within the cooperation between VINATUNA & Fishing & Living program, a training workshop to local tuna fishers in Phu Yen was conducted on 16th Dec, 2018 on New Fishery Laws of Vietnam, new requirements on VMS system to offshore fishing boats & ETPs
Under Vietnam YFT FIP programe, VINATUNA in cooperation with Fishing & Living (a sustainable program from ANOVA, an international tuna buyer from US) orgainzed a training workshop to local tuna fisher in Dong Tac & Phuong 6, Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province. The training was participated from more than 40 local tuna fisher. The training aims to introduce the New Fishery Law of Vietnam (Fishery Law No.18/2017/QH14) which affected on 1st Jan, 2019.

The training workshop also provide new requirements on VMS system to offshore fishing vessel fleets. Following that, all over 24m vessels lenght have to install VMS & tracking their fishing trip. These fishing vessels have to report their location for at least for every 2 hours as requirements

Beside that, local tuna fishers are trained on how to rescue & protect Endangered - Threaten - Protected spescies (ETPs). Vinatuna also free delivery ETPs protection tool kits such as handbooks, new calendar 2019, posters and circle hooks as a gift to local fishers in Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen province.

End of training, local tuna fishers in Phu Yen aware basic requirements on the new fishery laws, new requirements on VMS as well as raising awareness on the ETPs protection.
