VINATUNA and WWF are currently conducting a research and evaluation report on "Current situation of using Circle hooks in tuna fishing in Vietnam" in three main provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa.
Over the past 1 month, the VINATUNA team and their collaborators have conducted field surveys to fishermen, ship owners, fishing gear shop and domestic hook manufacturers. In order to collect information and make objective assessments on the actual use of traditional J hook and Circle C hooks. Getting feedbacks from fishermen and manufacturers to improve effectiveness.
In purpose of promoting the use of Circle hooks in handline fishing and longline fishing, minimizing the impact on sea turtles.
