On the morning of April 3, 2026, at Daphovina Hotel, Bac Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province, the VINATUNA Tuna Association held a Workshop and Training on "Promoting sustainable fisheries - rescuing Endangered, Threatened, Protected species in tuna fishery." These activities are part of the Project "Reducing Impact on Endangered, Valuable, and Rare Species (ETPs) in Tuna Purse Seine Fishing" implemented by the Vietnam Tuna Association, with funding from the grassroots conservation fund under the Vietnam Wildlife Conservation Fund, in cooperation with the Centre for People and Nature – PanNature.

In a lively atmosphere, the workshop provided a lot of useful, practical knowledge for the fishing activities of local fishermen: - Exploiting marine resources goes hand in hand with protecting the resources - Identifying and properly handling endangered and rare marine species (ETPs) caught in fishing gear - Using the COPPA application to record data on fishing activities and endangered and rare species (ETPs) Conservation and improvement activities within the framework of the Project play an important role, contributing to promoting the development of the fishing industry in a sustainable and responsible way, meeting the strict standards required by international market demands.

One of these is the MSC sustainable seafood certification – a reputable standard that helps enhance the value of Vietnam's tuna industry in the international market. The workshop received many positive responses from fishermen, with the hope that in the near future, good knowledge and practices will continue to be widely disseminated, contributing to raising awareness, promoting ecosystem-friendly fisheries alongside the protection of aquatic resources, and ensuring sustainable livelihoods in fishing communities.
