As of August 31st, 2020, the total tuna export turnover reached 417,508,305 USD. Particularly in August, exports of canned tuna under code HS16 reached 22,385,245 USD, with 3 main markets: US (50%), EU (17%) and Korea (14%). However, the proportion of exports has decreased by 7% compared to July 2020. The main reason is that ASEAN did not import tuna from Vietnam, and exports to the Middle East, the US have decreased slightly.

Besides, Israel (Middle East) and Canada are the two countries that tend to increase imports of canned tuna under code HS16 from Vietnam in recent months.

Figure 2. Tuna export rate of code HS0304 (excluding grilled chopped fish and surimi products)
The US (48%) and the EU (20%) are the two main markets for tuna exports under code HS0304 (except grilled chopped fish and surimi products). Tuna export ratio reached 23,506,735 USD under code HS0304, slightly increased compared to July. The US and UK are also the two countries with the highest growth trends in tuna exports this code.
With tariff incentives, in the last 2 months, Vietnam's tuna products have had a greater attraction for the EU market. However, the growth in this market is not really clear. Hopefully in the last months of the year, tuna exports will have a more positive change after being significantly reduced in the first half of the year due to disease Covid-19, especially in the EU market thanks to the impact of the implementation EVFTA./.
