On the morning of October 7, 2026, the Vietnam Tuna Association (VINATUNA) and Zunibal Vietnam held a working meeting to review and discuss the results of the Electronic Monitoring (EM) system pilot implemented over the past period. This activity forms part of the Vietnam Skipjack Tuna Purse Seine Fishery Improvement Project under Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standards (VN SKJ MSC IP).

During the meeting, VINATUNA and Zunibal assessed the EM’s performance in actual operations, identified several technical limitations that require further improvement. In addition, technical staff from Zunibal Vietnam and VINATUNA received training from Zunibal experts on the software operation for EM’s data assessment to support fisheries observer activities.

The EM pilot has encouraging initial results. Moving forward, VINATUNA and Zunibal Vietnam will continue testing the system during fishing trips, while further researching and developing EM solutions suited to the technical and operational conditions of Vietnam's fishing fleet.
